The Aquarium of the Pacific features more than 12,500 marine animals representing almost 1,000 species. Explore the wonders of the world’s largest ocean in one of the biggest aquariums in the United States. Marine life from the three regions of the Pacific Ocean are on display in permanent exhibit galleries on two levels. The Southern California/Baja Gallery features creatures from California’s coastal tide pools and kelp forests like giant sea bass, leopard sharks, seals and sea lions, endangered green sea turtles, and the skates and rays touch pool. The Wetlands Discovery Lab is also located in this area. The Northern Pacific Gallery showcases inhabitants of the frigid waters of Russia and northern Japan such as playful sea otters, the giant Pacific octopus, puffins, auklets and the Coastal Corner Discovery Lab. The warm, crystal-clear waters of coral lagoons in the Tropical Pacific Gallery include blacktip reef sharks, clownfish, angelfish and triggerfish as well as seahorses and sea dragon and the Live Coral Discovery Lab.
